Comida a Casa Chàvez
Mi cocina está abierto!
Our work at the roots of change agency and our larger organization, Knurdology, is about creating lasting liberatory change.
Change doesn’t always come in the most expected places. The United Farm Workers Movement, The Black Panther Party, and centuries of indigenous organizing show the power of food and gathering. At a time when our food systems are at risk due to AI data centers, resource extraction, and more, we hope to bring healthy foods grounded in the local land and community. As a community member says, "you can taste the healthy!"
We sell vegan, sustainable, and plastic-free food meant to keep us and the climate healthy serving the Bay Area.

My favorite treat is our green chile spinach tortillas
for a splash of spice from home using
chiles from Hatch, NM.

as a kid in Texas
I loved all the foods of the Southwest. TexMex, New Mexican green chile, fajitas, pozole, guacamole, & my family’s favorite recipes.
As the climate crisis has intensified, I’ve turned to more sustainable practices and became vegan in 2022. Now, I want to offer the culture with the sustainability and share sustainable, vegan, & plastic-free alternatives to our old cultural favorites and other global cuisine.
This new offering is a love story to my family, ancestors, & the mother Earth we call home.
Feed a Neighbor
If you have the means, consider adding a community meal to your purchase to help us feed our most vulnerable community members.
We intentionally make extra food to give to our unhoused neighbors and other community members who've been abandoned by our systems. By purchasing a community meal, you are allowing us to buy extra ingredients and supplies. Donations go towards snacks, materials, & other basics (socks, etc) plus we plan to donate quarterly to local food banks and indigenous organizations as we grow.
We are looking for supporters to help in our early stages of growth. Explore our supporter tiers.
for Us & the Planet
"Every item is of the upmost highest quality I feel good after purchasing these homemade items that are made with love and consciousness. I really love the fruit roll ups. I have a very big sweet tooth and the fruit roll ups are the perfect combination of sweet yet healthy. I really like the texture. The jam is so fresh and delicious. It’s the best on sourdough bread every time I try to buy a strawberry loaf they sell out before I can get there which makes me happy thank you for the good healthy food." -- one of our regulars
Going vegan and limiting your plastic usage are the top ways individuals can build collective power to overcome the climate crisis. Learn more about the plastic crisis.
