Reforming Sexual Harassment & Assault in the California Legislature

A Statement from the Founders of SHIP

We continue to advocate and speak up for those impacted by sexual harassment, discrimination, and retaliation in the CA legislature by amplifying survivors’ lived experiences.

We believe that the WCU must operate as an independent agent in addressing misconduct complaints. But we recognize that this won’t happen overnight.

The next step? Amending LORA to require the release of misconduct records to build the transparency and accountability to which the public should be entitled.

Without public access to meaningful data and information, survivors are left vulnerable to decisions made by political actors. Full stop.

β€œI think the question that has to be reckoned with is, what does this mean for public policy as a whole?”

– Ruth Ferguson, SHIP Founder
